It is valid to be concerned about how your permanent makeup application will feel. In fact, the most commonly asked question that we receive from our clients is "How much is this going to hurt?"
Typically, there is some discomfort in the beginning of the application, as the skin needs to be "broken" in order for the topical anesthetic to be effective in the skin. This feel very similar to a traditional tattoo, which all of my clients have found to be tolerable. Once the anesthetic kicks in (about 10 minutes) everyone is usually very comfortable. Now for some exciting news! As of January 2015, it is now possible to have an even more comfortable application at Aura. We are thrilled with this, as leading innovations in the industry are now available. With eyeliner and eyebrows, a topical solution is applied prior to the application to pre-numb the area. During your application, an even stronger topical anesthetic will be applied so that you will do not feel pain. You can expect however, to feel the pressure of the technician working, which often will stimulate the sinuses and cause mild stuffiness and sneezing. For those with very sensitive-to-the-touch eyes, it will be important for you to contact my studio to know if permanent makeup will be best suited for you!
