sanc·tu·ar·y (n) a place of refuge and safety. A sanctuary is a place that helps you remember that your life is beautiful. A place of clarity, a place to re-energize. A place that reminds you of your core values. This doesn't mean that you need to spend a fortune re-decorating a room, it doesn't mean that you need to put up "do not enter" signs and locks on doors...A sanctuary can be created much more easily than that. All it takes is your intentions. Speaking of intentions - the intention of this article, is to inspire you to create a sanctuary - no matter where you live! When I speak of a sanctuary, I mean simply a visual space that invokes a powerful feeling for you - by using colors, lighting, pictures, plants, etc! Even if you only have a couple square inches of a desk to spare, use it. And allow it to grow with time. Intention is everything! 4 Simple Steps To Create Your Sanctuary:1. Make a list of your intentions for your sanctuary. For example: My intention for my sanctuary is to inspire me to do yoga. Or: My intention for my sanctuary is to give me a place to write and be creative. There is no limits to your intentions! You can even create multiple sanctuaries for different purposes.
2. Collect items, or even 1 item, that strongly reminds you of your intention. This can even be a picture from a magazine, or printed off line. It can be a quote that you love, or even a special plant. Assign your intentions to these items, and know that they hold that positive visual reminder. 3. Find a place in your home to create your sanctuary. If you have a large space to yourself and are able to designate an area for you only, make sure that everything you place in the room uplifts and fulfills your intentions. If you live with multiple people, without much privacy, it is easy to build a little sanctuary on the counter top in the bathroom, next to your bed, in your closet, etc! Get creative. This is your dream coming alive :) 4. Visit your sanctuary often. Remember your intentions by spending time each day reflecting in that space, closing your eyes and taking a few deep breathes here, and knowing that it can be your own little secret - even in the midst of a lot of activity. Remember: your sanctuary can change, as often as you desire! Comments are closed.
