How To Protect Your Permanent Makeup

Glycolic acid has the uncanny ability to healthily exfoliate damaged layers of our skin, giving our body the chance to regenerate new skin. This is all well & dandy, except for when it comes to one thing:

YOUR TATTOOS.

Given that your permanent makeup application is indeed a tattoo, it's important to note that Glycolic Acid will fade your cosmetic tattoo application, including microblading.

Glycolic Acid has recently been in the spotlight for it's notable charm in the skin care industry, and as a result has been thrown into all kinds of lotions n' potions designed to help our skin.

Our best advice:
check your labels! Avoid using all Glycolic Acid based products around and on your cosmetically tattooed areas as this will more firmly ensure long lasting results.

Hooked on Glycolic Acid? Be sure to consult your technician about how to play it safe while getting treatments done!

I am so sorry to hear this, Babe. Sadly, I do not have a safe at-home solution-- & I would NOT recommend any type of acid-based solution for this. While that is ok for most body tattoos, you would *really* risk harming your eye permanently & also risk bad scarring. Instead, I recommend purchasing a waterproof liquid foundation (my favorite is Kat Von D from Sephora) to simply camouflage it. On the bright side, if the tattoo was done with permanent makeup pigments, it is designed fade in time.... So you should see it lighten over the years. Without getting it professionally removed by a specialist who does eyeliner removal specifically, I would say that is definitely the best action to take. I wish there was more I could do to help, but I hope this gives you some good direction :)

Sincerely,
Alana Everett

Hi Sam,

Topical removal is only truly effective when coupled with proper removal techniques by a professional. I would recommend looking into finding an EliminInk technician near you! Good luck!!
